I’m in the process of updating the kitchen island. (I’ll have pictures soon.) The thing that is keeping me from finishing completely is color. I don’t know what color to paint it. While white would look clean and fresh, the kids sit there and the wall ends up with marks on it.
Now I’m thinking I want to repaint the sunroom and kitchen while I’m at it. Amazing how one thing leads to another! The island is seen from both rooms, so if I repaint the walls, then I may have more color options for the island. 😉
Here are some pictures I found for inspiration. My cabinets are a honey color. Any suggestions???
I saw this on Pinterest this morning. While my kids don’t have wee little hands anymore, it is the perfect prayer for this insomniac mom.
Thought I would share this with you. It may be words you need to hear too.
Some days you need a gentle reminder that life can and should be simple, and the joys in life are the little things… like flying saucers.
My son is what you call a “gamer”. He’s really good at it, and all his friends play. Last night was the release of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and his super hero dad took him to Best Buy at 12:01 am to pick up the “deluxe” game package he ordered. The game came with extra goodies, including a flying saucer. (It has a sophisticated flying machine name, but at the moment it’s beyond me. I’m just the gamer’s Mom.)
After school today, we took the remote control flying thing outside to give it a try. And guess what?? It was fun! My son and I were laughing and flying, and occasionally ducking and running out of the way, but we had a blast. My whole day was spent being blah and grumpy (from tiredness, lack of sleep) and all it took was watching my son fly a saucer to make me smile. Simple. And joyful.
I read a very relatable post yesterday over at Sand & Sisal. When I saw this quote, I knew it was meant to be today’s Wednesday Wisdom.
I have been wanting to make my last name initial from a book to put in my bookcase. I had seen it on Pinterest, where they used a jigsaw and a template made from a large cutout printed font. While looking for that particular project, I came across oodles of ideas for projects using old books. They are so clever! Who knew?? Many of these would make great gift ideas. The holidays are just around the corner, ya know. Take a look…
